DIRECTING FOR THE SCREEN PROGRAM
B.F.A, 4 YEARS
Program Objectives:
Directing documentaries and shorts etc. Write screenplays (in the format of choice). Collaborate with the program of film acting. Also to get a good knowledge about the technology of film and what the rest of the team behind the camera does.
Curriculum Overview
Students take lectures and practical courses in Film Directing, Screenwriting, Film production, Directing the Short Form, and Directing the Actor along with a Technical Workshop and lecture courses in Fundamentals of Directing, Elements of Cinematic Narrative, and the Role of the Producer and Film history etc.
Students must complete several script exercises in Screenwriting. In Directing, students finish a series of exercises designed to increase their skills in script interpretation, casting, the rehearsal process, communication with actors, scene preparation, blocking etc.
Each student must write, direct and produce several 10-20 minutes shorts. As with all other works, the films are shot on digital video.
Throughout the course of instruction, students' work is regularly reviewed.

Thesis Requirements
For the thesis project students are required to write a feature-length screenplay and direct a short film.
In the case of adaptations of material from other media, valid releases and/or contracts--clearing the rights to such material--must be submitted with the screenplay, film, or video.
Thesis Submission: The student must observe the degree application deadlines established by the KSC and submit his or her thesis in a timely manner. Students should consult the KSC for information on thesis submission deadlines. 4 copies of all screenplays and dissertations will be retained for the KSC archives. Final film must be available on a digital video master left with the KSC.

Equipment for digital cinema production, location sound recording, and digital film editing, lighting and grip equipment, make-up, screening rooms etc.

Student films screenings, Public screenings of selected student films, Periodic visits from filmmakers or actors, and educational visits.
Application Deadline
All materials must be marked by the date specified (always during autumn).
Materials Required for Application:
Transcripts, letters of recommendation, autobiographical statement, film treatment, writing samples. Interview required for application in some cases, upon invitation by KSC.
